Office Technology, Design & Ergonomics
Office life is more sedentary than ever before. In today's business world, we no longer need to leave our desks to do our jobs effectively, which has serious implications for employee health and wellbeing. That's why workplace design and ergonomics are more vital than ever.
Employee productivity can be greatly affected by ergonomics and selecting the right workstation design whether you are working in the office or remotely. Dhaval says that whatever works for you, as long as you are comfortable and it adds up to your productivity, should be sufficient. In addition, personally, he also recommends keeping your workspace out of your bedroom and putting it in your living room.
The pandemic has made working from home a new norm. Although people have adapted to it, there is no denying that it has disadvantages. In this case, ergonomics becomes more crucial to practice and apply to prevent injuries (Middlesworth, 2020). To name a few, ergonomic products can help us prevent low back injuries, muscle strains, and carpal tunnel syndrome.
The top 5 must-haves are:
Ergonomic desk
Ergonomic chair
Ergonomic keyboard
Ergonomic footstool
Ergonomic mouse
As per Dhaval, while ergonomics plays a big role in work productivity and work efficiency, he says you don’t necessarily have to own all these top 5s. As he says, “Find and do whatever works for you.” He himself is satisfied with his ergonomic chair and ergonomic desk.
We asked him if there is something he wants to improve or include in his workspace to make his work more efficient? He says “a better processor and an extra RAM would be really great.”
